Plant Prefab builds custom homes and its LivingHome designs in a 270,000 sq ft factory at Tejon Ranch, California. It works mostly with architects and general contractors, does not do site work itself, and does not publish prices. Its ADU designs run from 310 to 1,200 sq ft.

What a Plant Prefab ADU costs

Plant quotes each project after a $500 feasibility study, which is waived for wildfire victims. A third-party listing puts the LivingHome 10 (496 sq ft) at a $180,000 base price before site work, transport, installation, design and permits. Treat that as a rough guide only.

ADU designs

The LightHouse series covers 310 to 600 sq ft, the Sunset BUD series 445 to 1,200 sq ft, and the LivingHome 10 and Yves Behar LivingHome 1 are 496 and 625 sq ft. Plant also fabricates custom designs from your own architect.

Timeline

Feasibility takes about 2 weeks, personalizing a LivingHome 4 to 6 weeks (custom design 12 to 16), fabrication 8 to 16 weeks with site work in parallel, installation 1 to 2 days by crane, and finish work 6 to 12 weeks. Your general contractor handles site work, transport and utility connections.

Plant Prefab reviews and outlook
