Renology ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website therenology.com. We are an independent online magazine and resource for homeowners in Southern California and Greater Seattle focused on home design, including guides, cost calculators, and contractor matching.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Lead Request Form: Name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, project description, budget range, timeline, and preferred contact method.
  • Newsletter Signup: Email address only.
  • Contact or Feedback: Any information you voluntarily share via email or other communication.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Analytics & Advertising: We use Google Analytics 4, the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Conversions API, and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use our site and to measure our advertising. Microsoft Clarity records session activity such as pages viewed, clicks, scrolling, and mouse movement. We collect page views, referrer URL, UTM campaign parameters, device type (mobile/desktop/tablet), and session identifiers. These tools use cookies and similar technologies and share data with Google, Meta, and Microsoft under their respective privacy policies.
  • Server Logs: IP address, browser type, and access timestamps. These are retained temporarily for security and operational purposes.

How We Use Your Information

  • To connect you with pre-vetted home remodel contractors in your area (lead matching).
  • To send you Renology weekly newsletter, if you subscribe.
  • To understand how visitors use our site and improve our content and tools.
  • To respond to your questions or requests.
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse.

How We Share Your Information

We share your personal information as described below. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), some of this activity — including providing your lead details to contractors and using advertising and analytics cookies — may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out as described in the “Your Rights” section below.

  • Contractor Matching: When you submit a lead request, we share your project details and contact information with up to three local contractors so they can provide you with quotes. These contractors are independent third parties and use your information under their own privacy policies.
  • Advertising & Analytics Partners: We share usage and device data with Google, Meta (Facebook), and Microsoft through the analytics and advertising tools described above, including to measure and improve our advertising.
  • Service Providers: We use Supabase (database hosting), Vercel (web hosting), and Resend and Mailchimp (email delivery and newsletter) to operate this site. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

Data Retention

  • Lead Requests: Retained for up to 24 months, then anonymized or deleted.
  • Newsletter Subscribers: Retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Analytics Data: Retained for up to 90 days, then automatically deleted.

Your Rights

Depending on your location (including under the California Consumer Privacy Act, CCPA), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information (including lead-sharing with contractors and advertising cookies) by emailing us at the address below.
  • Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in every email.
