Best for a western factory, with plants in Arizona and Florida

San Juan Pools started in Seattle in 1958 and now builds fiberglass pools in Lakeland, Florida, Eloy, Arizona and Wolcott, Indiana. The Arizona plant makes it one of the few major brands with a factory in the West. Its structural warranty is 25 years, not prorated, and covers the original buyer only.

San Juan pool cost

San Juan does not publish prices; its dealers quote each project. Use the installed ranges other manufacturers publish, roughly $45,000 to $100,000 for most backyard pools, as a starting point, and ask for the shell, installation and decking as separate lines.

Warranty

San Juan's structural warranty runs 25 years from installation and is not prorated; its surface warranty runs 10 years. It is labeled non-transferable, and the registration card must be returned within 10 days of purchase or the warranty is void. Send it the day you sign.

Models and the West

San Juan claims 110 models and more than 450 dealers. One model, the Canyon Beach Grande, is marked as new for the West Coast, and the Eloy, Arizona plant shortens the trip to California compared with shells shipped from the East.

What we like, and what is worth knowing

Choose San Juan Pools if

  • You value a long company history

Look elsewhere if

  • You want a warranty that transfers (Thursday, River Pools or Barrier Reef)
  • You want a published price (Thursday Pools or Soake)

The part a pool price leaves out

Get your yard checked by a local pool contractor

Crane access, excavation, the pad, electrical, fencing and permits decide most of the gap between a pool price and a finished backyard. In Southern California, the Bay Area and Greater Seattle, we can introduce you to 2 to 3 licensed pool contractors who can walk your yard and price that part.
