How much does a Modpool cost?

Modpools' California page lists the 12 x 8 ft SwimSpa from $32,500 and the 40 x 12 ft Estate from $74,000. Its main size page lists $36,000 and $81,500 and up for the same two. Prices include a Pentair variable-speed pump, filter, a gas or electric heater, app control and LED lighting, all fitted at the factory.

Freight, the crane, a level pad or excavation, electrical and permits are on top. Get a delivered quote for your address and ask which price list it is based on.

Installation

Modpools does not install; a local contractor does, and the company says 95% of its pools are installed by a contractor doing their first Modpool. It says most installs are finished the same day once the site is ready. Building the pool takes 8 to 12 weeks.

Warranty and owner feedback

We could not find a warranty on the Modpools pages we checked. A competitor says the shell carries Modpools' own warranty terms current at the time of sale, so ask for those terms in writing before paying.

The BBB gives Modpools Limited an A+ with 4 complaints closed in three years. One customer runs a public site describing a 2018 delivery that arrived late and heavier than quoted, and later rust and liner problems. That is one owner's account, not a finding, but it is a reason to put delivery dates and weights in the contract.

Modpools in California

Modpools lists Los Angeles, San Diego, the Bay Area, Sacramento and Fresno among the California areas it ships to, and points buyers to the CSLB and local building departments for permits. California treats any water over 18 inches deep as a pool, so fencing and drowning-prevention rules apply.

The part a pool price leaves out

Get your yard checked by a local pool contractor

Crane access, excavation, the pad, electrical, fencing and permits decide most of the gap between a pool price and a finished backyard. In Southern California, the Bay Area and Greater Seattle, we can introduce you to 2 to 3 licensed pool contractors who can walk your yard and price that part.

How we make money: Renology is paid by independent pool contractors in parts of California and Washington when we introduce them to homeowners. No pool maker pays us.
